4 Christmas Treats You Should Be Making Every Year

By Ashley Williams

“Jing, jing, jing, jing, jing!”  Do you hear that beautiful sound?

I don’t hear it either.

But if you heard it in your imagination, then you guessed it! Christmas is itching closer and closer so this means we get to splurge on so many delicious holiday foods! Thanksgiving served us well with turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, pumpkin pies, etc. However, Christmas is another joyous occasion with lots of laughs, family, gifts, and great food to enjoy. And if you are a foodie like me, you enjoy the chance of eating different holiday treats and indulging in the carbs you will have to burn the next day.

If you need a guide when it comes to holiday treats, I will PRESENT them to you below. (You get it? PRESENT meaning showcase something and then on Christmas you get a present or gift. No? Okay sorry.)

1. SUGAR COOKIES

The delicious taste of sugar cookies around Christmas is sure to make anyone happy and festive. Sugar cookies are served all year round but around Christmas, you are able to use Christmas cookie cutters and decorate them with delicious icing. For example, you can make a Christmas tree sugar cookie and decorate the cookie with green icing. For the ornaments, you can use chocolate red pearls and then be creative with the star at the top. To top off your creativity, there are many different Christmas cookie cutters for variety as well. Christmas trees, tree ornaments, stars, present boxes, Santa Clause, reindeer, and many more fun cookie cutters are available everywhere.

2. RED VELVET CAKE

Red velvet cake is not only a cake with hints of chocolatey goodness; red velvet cake is a fun cake because it’s simply red! The beautiful designs of red velvet cake and the yummy taste should make any Christmas-spirited individual excited. Now, red velvet can be confused for just a red chocolate cake but that is not so. The red cake only has hints of cocoa while a regular chocolate cake goes the full throttle of cocoa. No, Santa does not color the cake red so just add your red food coloring until you are completely satisfied.

3. CHOCOLATE FUDGE

Okay, one moment as I catch the drool running down my chin. (pause) I’m back. And if you had to wipe the drool from your mouth from looking at chocolate, I don’t blame you. Chocolate fudge around the holidays cannot be beat and just think about the different ways you can make it. You can make mint chocolate fudge, white chocolate fudge, caramel fudge, coconut fudge, candy cane fudge, chocolate chip cookie dough fudge, and so much more. For a fun Christmas Eve night, find ways to be creative with your chocolate fudge.

4. MACAROONS

Yummy, yummy macaroons are perfect for the holiday season; preferably around Christmas, of course. You can be able to make different types of macaroons with a jelly filling, creme filling, or you can just make different colored cookies. Since it is the holidays, you can decorate these delicious cookies with icing and use red and green food coloring for Christmas colors.

Christmas holidays are full of tasty and fun desserts that everyone can enjoy. While the kids play with the toys, the adults can definitely get a kick out of the treats! What are your go-to Christmas treats?
